A lot of fun stuff in Week 4 ....
the Chiefs trounce the Ravens as Lamar tweaks his hammy .... the Rams bounce back .... the Chargers become the biggest
flop of the week .... and a thrilling slugfest on Sunday night, as the Packers and Cowboys battle to a 40-40 tie. (As a
reminder, our rules say that if a game ends in a tie, everyone gets credit for a win.)
And in a highly competitive contest in the pool, where most everyone had a shot until the final day, it ended up being
Old Timers Week, as the three pool founders took trophies home to put on their mantels. Barry C, the founding father
and original Commissioner of the pool, had the Picks of the Week, as he put big points on the underdog Chiefs and
watched as they easily destroyed the Ravens. He was also the only one to pick the biggest upset (Giants over Chargers).
Deanna S, the original VP of Operations of the pool, took the 2nd Place prize after tying with Jennifer V and squeaking by
with a better tiebreaker score. And Kevin L, the first Director of Technical Affairs (aka the Statman and also the current
Commish), scooped up the Monday Night score prize.
Tribute to Karen W (posted earlier in the week)
It is with a sad heart that I share with you the news that Karen W, long time football pool player and friend, passed away
last week after a long battle with cancer. Karen was in our pool for the past 20 years, and she had many seasons
that were filled with success and celebration. She was ALWAYS so positive and upbeat, and she never missed an
opportunity to thank me for how much she enjoyed playing in the pool each week. Her refreshing outlook and spirit will
be missed so much.
